Professor Michael McKenzie was a founding contributor to the Australian Standfirst Family.
He was the backbone of the Academic Council.
Michael was a member who brought a wealth of industry and academic knowledge, know-how and acumen to the Family.
Formerly a Professor and ProDean at the University of Liverpool Management School, United Kingdom, he was until 2013 the Chair of the Discipline of Finance at the University of Sydney and formerly a Professor of Finance and also a Research Associate at the Centre for Financial Analysis and Policy at Cambridge University in the United Kingdom.
Michael had 20 years’ experience in the finance industry, initially working for Deloitte. In that time he provided financial consulting services to a diverse range of clients across the banking, funds management and insurance sectors as well as for government.
Michael had produced over 60 publications, most of which appear in highly regarded international academic journals.
Further, he had also published a number of books and monographs in the area of finance.
Michael’s award-winning research covers a diverse range of topics including investment strategies and tactical asset allocation, risk management and market volatility.
Michael is survived by his wife and daughter whom he loved more than life itself.
